How renewal works
Truck and Bus Regulation compliance is not a one-time filing: each reporting year the fleet's information has to be current in TRUCRS before a new certificate is issued. Vehicles that were sold, retired, re-engined or added since the last report all need to be reflected.
We review what is on file, update the fleet with the changes you give us, submit the renewal and email you the new certificate. If a vehicle no longer qualifies, we tell you before anything is filed.
$75 per vehicle — the same flat fee as a new registration, with no extra charges.

Before you renew
Have last year's details handy: the motor carrier identification you reported under (USDOT, CA, IRP or PUC number) and the VIN of every vehicle that should stay on the certificate.
If a vehicle was replaced, we report the new one and remove the old one — each counts as one vehicle for the fee.
Four steps to a renewed certificate

Your contact details and the motor carrier ID the fleet was reported under last year.

Step 2: Update the vehicle list
Add the vehicles that stay on the certificate with their current engine details; sold or retired ones are simply left out.

Step 3: Review and pay
Check every detail, then pay $75 per vehicle by card. No extra fees.
- Step 04
Step 4: We renew the report
We bring your TRUCRS record current for the new reporting year and email the renewed certificate when it is issued.

Renewal questions
How often do I need to renew?
Every reporting year. The certificate TRUCRS issues is tied to the year it was issued for, so the fleet's report has to be brought current before the next one can be issued.
What if nothing changed in my fleet?
The renewal still has to be submitted so a certificate for the new year is issued. We confirm the vehicles on file with you and re-submit.
I sold a truck and bought another. Is that a renewal or a new registration?
A renewal. We remove the sold vehicle and report the new one within your existing TRUCRS record.
Can you renew if I did not use your service for the original report?
Yes. Tell us the motor carrier identification the fleet was reported under and we take it from there.
What do I need to provide?
Your contact and company details, the motor carrier identification, and for each vehicle the VIN, license plate, GVWR class, registration type and engine details — the same information as the original report.
